The Clayton Community Recreational Foundation was formed in 1983 as a 501(c)(3) organization whose primary mission is to provide opportunities for individuals and corporations to contribute to the recreational opportunities in the Clayton Community.

Michael Grannis

Chair

Michael is a long-time resident of Clayton and former owner of Clayton Steakhouse and owner and operator of Morning Glory Inn Bed & Breakfast with his wife Betsy. He’s committed to giving back to the community, working for the citizens of Clayton, and making Clayton a better place in which to reside.

Larry Bailey

Board Member

Larry Bailey served on the Town of Clayton and his area of impact revolved around recreational opportunities for everyone. He was instrumental in growing the parks and greens system in the Clayton community to enhance and provide more opportunities for recreation for all.

Scott Barnard

of Clayton Parks & Recreation Director, Ex-Officio

Scott I joined to support those supporting the Town’s Recreational endeavors for decades. Clayton is extremely blessed to have community advocates working quietly behind the scenes to improve the lives of the citizens and visitors. Along with servicing on the CCRF Board, he serves on the NC Senior Games. Scott is a proud parent of three, two boys and a girl. He has coached soccer, t-ball, and tennis for my kids and loves that they also enjoy hiking, fishing, surfing and snowboarding.

Shandy Hill

Treasurer

Shady is a member of the leadership team at Caterpillar. He serves as the treasure for the Clayton Community Recreational Foundation.

Butch Lawter

Board Member

Butch is District 7 Board member and active member of several boards Currently appointed to the several board including NC Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), Triangle J Council of Governments Board of Delegates and Executive Committee (TJCOG)
Johnston Community College Board of Trustees, and Johnston County Sports Council. He’s committed to his faith, family and friends.

Mike Mullins

Vice – Chair

Mike is originally from Bluefield, Virginia, and graduate from the University of Virginia. He spent 15 years in the Service Industry in various roles to his last role as a District Operations Manager. In 2019 Mike decided to take on a new path with Edward Jones to become a Financial Advisor. Mikes biggest achievements are his own kids. He is a member of the Clayton Area Rotary Club and a Mentor for Hire Heroes Sports. Recreation has always played a large role in his life. To help give our community a place where families can come together in a safe and inclusive environment makes being a part of the CCRF board an easy choice!

Melissa Oliver

of YMCA Triangle

Melissa works for the YMCA of the Triangle focusing on healthy living, social responsibility and community through my work in operations and financial development. She is a current board member of CCRF, which aligns with our YMCA’s mission and purpose. I also serve as current Board Chair of Clayton Chamber of Commerce, Clayton Rotarian, Clayton Chamber Foundation, and Past Chair of Garner Chamber. Raised in Idaho, have lived in Clayton for 30 years and mom of a senior at Clayton High and a sophomore at UNC-CH.

Jordan Sims

Board Secretary

Jordan is married and the mother of one who enjoys snacking, spending time with loved ones, and watching movies. Jordan is a Social Worker currently practicing in child welfare. She serves as the Secretary for the CCRF board. It’s her passion to help bridge the gap in the community and being a member of the CCRF board which allows her to advocate for the development and enhancement of our community.

Michael Sims

of T&T Creative Group

Mike is a member of the leadership team at T&T Creative Group. Mike takes pride in living in the Clayton community and has served in many capacities with several civic and non profits organizations. Mike is a Councilman for the town of Clayton and past president of the Clayton Rotary club. He is committed to the community of Clayton and supports the mission to create a place for all to live, work and play.

Samantha DiGiovanni

of Novo Nordisk

Samantha has been a trusted real estate professional for 10+ years. She relocated to North Carolina with her husband and children in 2010, and has been loving the Clayton area and all it has to offer ever since. In 2012, she joined HomeTowne Realty because of the firms knowledge, commitment to serving local communities, and their reputation for providing excellent customer service. Prior to real estate, Samantha was in banking & finance for over 10 years. When she isn’t writing contracts or showing homes, she can usually be found on a soccer field or at a pool, cheering on her two kids in their favorite past times. She is very grateful for all of the different opportunities her kids have had to get involved in sports and recreation in this area and is looking forward to giving back with CCRF.
